My Coffee Recipe

January 27th, 2012

Since I got my Moka pot, I started trying out different coffee recipes. I would use a milk frother to make my coffee more creamy. I would use try out cold milk or microwave heated milk to mix with my coffee. I would try different coffee beans like the Kona coffee my sister sent me, Anniversary Blend coffee blend from Starbucks or Colombian Narino coffee bean from Australia. I love coffee. Lately, I tried my coffee with Baileys. Hehehe. Please let this be a secret. Everytime I drink that kind of coffee, it would make me feel so sleepy.

My Moka pot is the third in my coffee making machine family. I do have coffee maker and Bodum French Press, too. I wonder if I could have a bunn coffee maker. I could probably get bunn coffee makers parts easily. Even then, I am still on the look out for an original Moka Pot… the one made by Bialetti. Hope to find one soon.

Going Back to University?

January 21st, 2012

I think I have mentioned in one of my posts that I have started to work again, after 10 years of being a stay-at-home mom. Early mornings are a pain for me, but I seem to be getting the hang of it. Wearing makeup and having to look my best is something that I have not done in a while, but I am enjoying it.

Working as a teacher is both enjoyable and fulfilling. I have fond memories of my favorite teachers when I was in the elementary myself, and I can imagine how good it is to be remembered by students a few years down the road. But I think I should take up an Elementary education degree if I have to stay in this job long term.

Getting back to work after a decade of not doing so has been a challenge… and now, going back to the university? Wow, that sure sounds exciting!

My Reward Card

January 21st, 2012

What I love about shopping in my favorite department store is the fact that I get points for my reward card everytime I shop. I think these cards are great strategies for these stores because people would always love to be rewarded, right?

Reward systems have been used by our parents and in schools eversince we were little kids so it’s not something new to us. When you get rewards, you can’t help but share your joy with friends and family so in a way, they have been getting advertisements from loyal customers without even paying them. This reminds me, I have to check on my reward card and see if they have something for me. I am not that excited, am I?

Last Christmas

January 12th, 2012

Christmas went by swiftly, it’s hard to believe that we are in the middle of the first month of another year! How time flies. For some people who have spent so much on Christmas decors, the next challenge would be how to take them down and return them to their boxes. It’s one of the reasons why I don’t decorate our home so much during Christmas. Last Christmas, in particular, we were out of the country for an important trip so I am glad that it has been a meaningful one for the kids.

We always teach our kids that the the holiday season is not just about new toys  and gifts wrapped under the tree. It’s about understanding the true meaning of Christmas and make him known to those who have yet to hear about why we celebrate the Christmas in the first place.

Finding Perfect Gifts

January 5th, 2012

Although Christmas is already over and gifts have already been unwrapped, many people still swarm the malls for New Year’s gifts and late Christmas presents. Those beautiful trees and colorful lights still adorn homes and shops, and the Christmas sale is still on!

Finding a gift for a special friend could be challenging, because you will never really know for sure what he or she would like. It would be risky to buy apparel, as you might buy the wrong size or they might prefer another color or style. I am sure my closest girl friends would really love to receive one of those shamballa bracelets. I even love to get one for myself!

Innovations for the Swimming Pool

December 26th, 2011

After a hard day’s work, you would want to get refreshed and relieved from all the stress naturally. So you change your office clothes to your swimming attire and take a dip at your swimming pool, but unfortunately, the water is too cold and deters you to swim.

But fret not, now you can swim in the pool even in the coolness of the night, with solar sun rings, a passive solar swimming pool heating device which is designed as an insulating blanket to retain heat gained during daytime. So a dip in the pool at nighttime will now be more relaxing and enjoyable.

The Constant Change

December 26th, 2011

Times really have changed. So many things have evolved and there are so many technological advancements and discoveries that are quite overwhelming. Lifestyles have also changed, even dating did not escape these changes and innovations. The Internet has become a host to so many websites that offer free dating online, even match-making. Many bonds have been tied through these alternative ways to find a lifetime partner or companion.

There is no stopping to all these transformations, and every day, our lives have become much easier and more convenient. But of course, alongside development, there will always be consequences. We will just have to adjust and make it fitting to our lifestyle.

Loving the Outdoors

December 15th, 2011

I love the outdoors: walking around, talking with friends, laughing hard, swimming in lakes, fishing in rivers and just enjoying life. Doing these with your family or friends makes it even more fun and a bit more tiring because of all the laughing. My favorite outdoor activity is walking, just walking around and talking or discussing the point of existence or digesting the status of your friend’s current relationship.

It’s a very simply activity yet very memorable. Sadly, I am not yet one of those hardcore outdoor people ready with their intimidating yakima bike racks and gears. But then again, I do not like the outdoors for the adrenaline rush it gives rather for the company and the memories.
