Ab Workout

July 14th, 2010

I know that I need to do more ab workouts. There are many reasons why I am doing this. Number one reason is that when people see me, they would look at my tummy and ask me whether the third one is coming. Arg! I know I can’t blame them. So to avoid this frustration, I have started doing some exercises. I feel that I have trimmed down a bit on the tummy part but it’s not enough. So yes, I am going to do more… and probably I’ll do this as a lifestyle, not just for short-term goal.

Who’s Who

July 4th, 2010

Every year, the University of the Philippines-Visayas celebrates its Foundation Week usually in August. During this week several activities are attended by the students like street painting, food bazaar, amazing race and the most anticipated, Hinugyaw. Hinugyaw is a fashion show with the students as models and designers. It is participated by students from the different academic organizations in the university. There are eight academic organizations composed of different courses. This is such a big event because all of UPV’s who’s who are present and the most talked about people are performing. It showcases the different eccentricities and talents of the students. The preparation for Hinugyaw takes months because of the deadly competition between the academic organizations. The models are the most beautiful people on campus. They undergo rigorous exercises and trainings and some of them take Lipofuze and the likes, before the competition. This year will be another exciting year for the school and everybody has been anticipating for a year for this event.

Sleeep

July 4th, 2010

Sleepless nights, 5,000-word papers, countless exams, late night movies, endless chats, annoying professors, cute instructors and 11th hour projects- these are the things that make up a university student’s exciting life. Most students, after a semester in college, are programmed to work efficiently with two hours worth of sleep. And so… dark eye circles are a part of our everyday view when we look in front of a mirror and so are larger than life eye bags.

There are also professors who think that we only have one subject, theirs, in one semester that they give papers and exams at the same time and demand impossible things from students. But usually, it turns out that we can do the impossible things and more. I think that is the beauty of college. We may be tired, spent and nearly-dead but our outputs more than compensate our efforts, sweat, tears and blood. These are the things that shape the students because out there, things are much harsher and there, it’s not the grades at stake but our lives and reputation.

Life in a Dormitory

June 30th, 2010

Living in a dormitory is hard. Not only because we are not with our family but also because we are out of our comfort zone. No one is going to cook for us, or wash our clothes or arrange our room. These are things other people do for us, like our mothers or sisters. In a dormitory or if we have a place of our own, we become independent and do things we never thought we are able to do. The positive side is that life in a dormitory is never boring or monotonous. Every day we get to interact with other people from different places with various set of values and characters. Sometimes it can cause migraine, but most of the time it is fun.

The one thing I do not really like in staying away from home is that some broken things are not immediately fixed or replaced. Like when had a busted bulb, we had to wait for months before its replacement. And now, our sink is broken, there is no water running and the sink itself is clogged. We suggested to the management that they should not buy substandard materials or equipments. Maybe we could buy one Kohler kitchen faucet and clean our sink more often. We do not have anyone to clean the sink for us so we must do everything ourselves. But maybe I should not have waited to be living alone before I could learn to fend off for myself because the adjustment period was so traumatic. One advice to teenagers: be more responsible and always listen to your parents.

Mom’s Kitchen

June 19th, 2010

I am born to a family who loves to cook and eat. I think out parents influenced us in that. They are the kind of parents who are superb cooks and can make delicious meals out of not-so delicious ingredients. We do not usually go out to eat so we use the kitchen a lot. Soon, if I have the resources, I plan to beautify out kitchen and fulfill my Mama’s dreams. The kitchen tiles would have a red-colored theme since my Mama loves red. I will buy her all clad copper core pans, woks and cauldrons so she could cook in style. I will make the kitchen the most inviting part of our home, a place where we can cook, talk, eat, drink and have fun. But before all these could happen, I have to finish my studies first then work and save.

Goat’s Milk

June 12th, 2010

My girl doesn’t like drinking milk. And so I give her supplements so she gets the nutrition she misses by not drinking milk. A couple of weeks ago, I found goat’s milk, in tablet form. I asked her to try and glad she liked it. I bought one bottle for her. Now, everytime she gets her milk supplement from her new diet pill. LOL. I am funny. Every time I tell her to get her tables, I would ask her to get her diet pills. When my friend heard it, she was shocked that I already started giving my girl diet pills. LOL. So I had to explain to her I simply call it like that. I’m sure you would be shocked to hear me too. :D

On a Break?

June 9th, 2010

We’re going to Thailand a day after tomorrow. You know the downside of traveling? You get to get a break from exercising and careful eating. Arg! It’s not like I don’t love traveling. I do. But the struggle comes after the break. It’s like starting all over again.

I think the best thing I can do is bring me laptop so I can still do my regular exercises. The food – I cannot do anything about it. I love Thai food so much I’m not sure whether I can be careful once I start eating.

It’s good to be healthy though. If we are able to do it, we must strive our best to be healthy. There are others outhere who are not able to, especially those who are disabled (i just hope they have some kind of disability insurance), no matter how much they want to do it. Some things in life can hinder us from doing things. I hope though that taking a break or going for a holiday wouldn’t be one of those.

Fasting to Lose Weight?

June 9th, 2010

I just read an article that says fasting is a good way to lose weight. You can either do juice fasting or raw food fasting. You can fast from 10 days to 30 days.  It will definitely curb the cravings for sugary and starchy food. And of course, the fast would be a waste if you start eating the wrong food again. So one must remember to be careful in what type of food we eat. If you’re like me who’s into losing weight and stuff like that, weightlosswand.com would be a help to get more info. It’s better to gain knowledge on things we get ourselves into. I guess it would make it easier if we understand everything. Otherwise, we are like a headless chicken running around, dunno what to do and dunno where to go. *peace*

Sunway Lagoon Water Park

June 4th, 2010

We went to Sunway Lagoon Water Theme Park last week. It was a fun-filled activity for the kids. We all had fun. I have taken some shots but I haven’t uploaded them in my facebook account yet. Maybe I should just make a slideshow of it then I post it here in my blog? I think slideshow of the photos would be fun and easier to look at the photos as it automatically slides the photos. Anyways, here’s a teaser for it:

Taking My Slimming Tea

June 4th, 2010

I have been taking my slimming tea for more than a week now. I think it worked when I just started. I have lost 1 kg after a week. But my weight didn’t move even a notch for the second week. Hmmm… what would be the best weight loss pills to use instead of a slimming tea? I took a 4-day break… and now I am back to drinking the tea again. Hopefully, I could see a difference by the end of this week.
