Shopping In Hatyai

Not sure whether they have Dansko womens shoes in Hatyai, but I wil surely do a bit of shopping while here. For Malaysians and Singaporians, Hatyai is like a shopping paradise. So what are the cheap things you can find in Hatyai?

1. souvenirs – are super duper cheap.
2. shoes – if you want stylish sans quality shoes, you can find a lot of cheap shoes in Hatyai.
3. clothes – asian style, is truly affordable.
4. cashew nuts – i’ve seen Malaysians/Singaporeans carry bags of cashew nuts going home time.

You just need to know how to bargain in Thai. Lot dai mai Kha? (Can lower down the price?) is the most common phrase to use when bargaining in Thailand.

Grocery Shopping Tips

I just blogged about going for green shopping. But of course, there are things that are not available online. So we have to drive and go to our favorite shops to do our grocery shopping. Here are some tips I could draw in doing grocery shopping:

1. Don’t go shopping for food when you’re hungry! Not only will you buy too much, but you’ll buy things that you want to eat there and then rather than items to store for later use.

2. Make a shopping list! Otherwise you’ll find yourself wandering around the supermarket aisles aimlessly and will end up buying items that you don’t need.

3. Get to know the workings of your local shops: find out when fresh foods are restocked, when the busy periods are and at what time of day bakery goods are reduced in price, for instance.

4. If you don’t see what you want on the shelf, ask for it because it may be in the back of the shop waiting to be shelved. If a local store doesn’t have what you regularly need, ask the shopkeeper to order it for you – a shopkeeper’s business is, after all, to serve you!

5. Don’t pack raw and cooked meats into the same shopping bag because the cooked meat could become contaminated by the raw meat’s juices.

Go Green and Shop Online

One of the ways to keep our enviroment clean and green is to go green shopping. Green shopping is a new term for me but actually it has been encouraged for quite some time now, especially from those people who loves to keep our environment clean and green.

It would help much if we shop online. This way, we don’t need to drive our car which spends petrol/gas to travel to and from the shops. It also reduceds noise and air pollution. So if you can do it, let’s shop online… or let’s go for green shopping. Shall we?

Benefits of Checking First

With just about any information we can get from the internet nowadays, it is so hard to pass up searching of checking the products first before purchasing them. It is always beneficial to search all the information you can get. For example, before buying or taking any diet supplements like ephedra, it helps a lot to read reviews about it.

I have a friend who has to a play she never liked. She said she should have read the play’s reviews first before saying yes to a friend. So what are the benefits of checking first?

1. you will enjoy your purchase

2. you can save money by buying the right product

3. you can save time of not having to change your purchases.

Shopping Malls in Malaysia

I have a few favorites among the shopping malls in Malaysia and most of them are found in my area, in Subang Jaya.

Sunway Pyramid – this is a very posh mall. I love the Egyptian Pyramind inspired design of the building. There is quite a good variety of shops inside. You can get signature products at the individual boutiques and street fashion at Asian Avenue. I’m not so much into street fashion though so I don’t really visit Asian Avenue. But recently, with my need to shop for my new home, going to Sunway Pyramid seemed to be very convenient in getting the things I need for my new house.

Subang Parade – my hubby’s favorite mall. It’s probably the oldest shopping mall in Malaysia. My hubby loves the fact that he doesn’t have to roam around so much to get what he needs. Simply say, the mall is small. But it is family friendly. We go to Games Arcade from time to time to spend time with our kids. I love the MPH bookstore in Subang Parade as well. And we grocery shop at Cold Storage if we need to do our groceries and we’re too lazy to drive to the next building which is Carrefour.

Ikea – It’s a furniture mall that offers just about anything you need when your house is your concern. They have Swedish Food available as well. We go for Swedish meatballs everytime we go there. I like the fact that they have showrooms for every corner of the house so you can get interior design ideas when you go there. Like I always say, I never go out of Ikea empty-handed.

These malls are my top 3 favorites. I’m sure all of these malls have great POS systems as they’re really doing well.I just wish that Ikea is just nearby. If you are in Malaysia, take a tour on these malls. I’m sure you will be impressed.

how to choose a the right gadget for your family

As a family, we all share our gadgets, no matter how much we try to keep it for own use. Somehow, someway, our family members will have a way to make use of them. So how to choose a family friendly gadget? I think for me, quality comes first. Make sure the gadget comes with a solid casing. I’m a mom with small children at home. Sometimes, I forget to keep things hidden from the curious hands. So I am thankful if the gadget is solid. It would be hard to break then. I remember Samantha playing with the keys of my Acer computer. If you’re an ACER user, you’d know how sensitive that computer is, right? So there, I had to send to the shop to put back the keys she took out.

Same goes with buying small gadgets like iPod nano. You won’t know which one to choose if you don’t check Gadget reviews. It really helps when you check out the reviews. It gives you an option to choose, which one is cheaper for better quality. For instance, check out stuff.tv. They do reviews for the Top 10 Gadgets! Indeed, they make our lives easier by taking the trouble themselves to check out every gadget there is in the market and give us the result. Shopping is made easy when you know which ones to buy. And life is easier at home when you know that the gadgets you’re using is of good quality.

how to choose the right shoes for your child

When I got pregnant with my first child and when we knew it was going to be a bot, my husband got very excited. In fact, he’s very excited that he wanted to buy a pair of shoes for the baby already. I laughed at him because it was the first thing he wanted to buy for the boy. Shoes. Now that we have a girl, I am the one getting excited in buying her pairs of shoes. How do we actually choose the right shoes for our children? I have gathered some tips:

  • look for shoes that will give you different sizes to compare. oshkosh shoes usually have a measurement at the back of the shoes, i.e.: too big, just nice and too small with lines on it. i like oshkosh products. they’re not that super expensive but good quality.
  • shop later in the day or late afternoons where feet usually swell this time.
  • don’t buy shoes that are too big or too small. one size bigger is just nice.
  • i remember my boy’s pediatrician recommended on investing a good pair of shoes. it helps a lot with their walking development. she actually highly recommended mothercare shoes, especially for those that are still learning to walk.
  • look for shoes that have a good grip.
  • best of all, buy shoes that are comfortable to use.
  • if you can’t go to the shop and buy shoes, try looking online. Shopwiki.com has all sorts of shoes in different sizes and good brands.

how to choose the right shoes for you

I love shoes. I love wearing different pair of shoes for different clothes I wear. Of course, I have to have black, brown and white shoes. Those are my essentials. They are neutral colors so It’s not hard to match them in any kind of clothes I wear. The shoes I wear go with my hand bags. So I have black, white and brown handbags to go with my shoes. But how do we really choose the right shoes for ourselves? Here’s what I could come up with:

  • comfort – before I gave birth to my first child, i used to wear strappy and high-heeled sandals. it changed when I got pregnant. I have to have a comfortable shoes to wear. It’s not advisable to wear high-heeled shoes if you’re pregnant. Shoes must be comfortable enough to be able to walk around. With extra weight to carry, I’m sure it’s better to walk comfortably in a comfortable shoes.
  • quality – we must have at least a couple a few pairs that are of good quality. Sometimes, good quality shoes are expensive. I don’t need expensive shoes sometimes because I want to change shoes often. Good quality shoes last long though. so it’s up to you whether you want a shoes you could wear for a long time or if you want to change shoes more often. if you choose the later, it’s not worth investing in a very expensive shoes. your pick.
  • size – of course, when you buy shoes, it should be the right size. it goes without saying.
  • color – buy a neutral color. unless you’re buying for a specific clothes.
