Things to Do

Hubby and I were discussing in things to do before going to that youth camp. We didn’t wanna go there looking like uncle and aunty. You know, when young people see you having bulging tummy and grey hair, they will automatically call you uncle or aunty, right? Especially if you’re coming from an Asian perspective. And so, we don’t wanna do that. We thought of some things to do before the camp:

1. Lose weight – which I am trying to do now. I probably need to do more research on the best diet pills so I can probably include in my losing weight regime.

2. Exercise – which has been in our list forever. Will have to prioritize this and we have to start as soon as we can.

3. Do something with my hair. No further discussions.

It would be good to be looking young and energetic when working with the youths, I think.

naturally beautiful

post: backdated: may 28, 2007

When we were in MPH bookshop last month, I saw a book called Naturally Beautiful by Dawn Gallagher. I got quite curious what the book was all about. I made a mistake in picking it up and reading the contents. But it’s not a sorrowful mistake i should say…Hehehe. Coz it’s all about taking care of your body in a natural way. I showed Peter the book and (I’m so thankful I have a very supportive husband when it comes to beauty stuff and all that…) and he straight away bought the book for me. Great! I started reading the book… actually started studying it. Hehhehe. Since I have oily skin, I focused more on the oily skin care. Hmmm… I thought of doing it… and yes, true enough… i felt the difference. it’s really really effective. I had one of my friends try it and she loved it. If you feel you wanna try it… please let me know. I’d be glad to give you some recipes. Just let me know what type of skin you have! You don’t need to worry where to get the ingredients because they’re all found in your kitchen! If you cook, that is. The only thing is… if you want a spa… that means you have to have some essential oils. I got mine from Body Shop…

I’ve been doing to Peter as well. Right now, as I’m typing this.. he’s sitting in front of me, enjoying his foot spa. Hehehe. I’m gonna have one later too, I hope. Nowadays it’s hard to predict what I can do later coz of the kids. Samantha might wake up by the time I put my feet in the tub. Hahaha! That’s why I just hope I could do things nowadays. Okay lah… I have this spa thingy nowadays. It’s always nice to do it yourself… considering how expensive it would be to do it outside.Feeling great smelling the aromatherapy scent here in the house…. Hehhehe.

If You Have a Round Face

Like I do, your face is as wide as it is long and you will have fullness at your cheekbones. Your goal is to make your face appear narrower.

Hair Do’s: wearing your hair down along the sides of your face, pulled back styles and parting your hair off centre will suit you. You can wear center part with long hair as long as your hair length falls below your chin.

Hair Don’ts: Your disaster style is rounded, chin length bob (or anything rounded for that matter).

Clothing: Avoid wearing anything round, necklines, collar points, etc. Use the length of a V-neck to sharpen your round face.

Beauty is Skin Deep – Part 2

A lot of people think that way. I disagree. I may have blogged about being beautiful physically is important but it’s not THE most important thing. Beauty is not skin deep. A real beauty has more attributes to her than the naked eye can see. There are just so many attributes that make a really beautiful woman. (this is actually a post I wrote when I just started my blog – just reposting it to remind myself)
  • The way you treat others – do you treat others fairly well? Or do you go by status quo? Sometimes it is so easy to give respect to others who have a high-paying job, career people, well established people and we find it challenging to communicate well with lowly people. If, by all means, you treat people equally, no matter the race, social status, etc… then you are truly a beautiful woman.
  • The way you exude confidence - there is a total difference between acting with confidence and acting with superiority complex. If you have self confidence, and you interact with people, it is very obvious. But when you have superiority complex, it is also obvious… which can turn people off. I know a lot of people that want to act confident but actually it’s out of insecurities. There are two types of insecurity: feeling inferior and acting superior – to cover up insecurities. I’ve seen both. It’s a total turn off. Not that I have enough confidence. I still lack a bit. But I’m working on it. (this is the purpose of this blog, actually).
  • Your mannerisms – there are too many to list down on different mannerisms people use. I have read a book “I Know What You’re Thinking” and from there, they listed down different hand gestures, body languages to reflect what they’re thinking. I have observed people on the way they talk after reading this book. Sometimes it chuckles me and my husband to death when we talk after meeting people. But of course, one main point is: we become very conscious of the body languages we’re signaling.
  • Your body posture - when you slouch and talk it’s very distracting.
  • The way you dress up - men sometimes get distracted when you reveal too much. So if you want to have a good conversation with people even in opposite sex, please dress up properly and modestly.
  • The way you put make up – (if you wear make up at all) we all strive to do a no-make up look. Lesser make up doesn’t mean you will have a no-make up look. I have searched the internet about doing a no-make up look and guess what… to achieve a no-make up look, it takes more time and more make up to do so.
  • Fear of the Lord - in Proverbs 31:30, it says “Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain but the woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.”

hair care tips

after having two kids, hair care for me has become a challenge. and my hair has experienced so much abuse. in what ways?

  1. i don’t get enough sleep
  2. baby pulling my hair
  3. no time for hair treatment
  4. getting stressed easily

all these are an added factor of having hair loss, aside from genetic make up. so how do we prevent hair loss?

  1. get enough sleep
  2. protect your hair from your baby by tying it up when carrying the baby.
  3. go for hair treatment at least once a month. hair loss treatment is advisable if you’re suffering from hair loss badly.
  4. brush or comb your hair gently. don’t comb or brush too much when wet. run a comb or brush once and wait until your hair gets dry. then you can comb/brush with 100-200 strokes.
  5. massage your hair gently, using the fingertips and not your nails.
  6. before getting some hair loss treatment, read a lot of Hair Loss Product Reviews before deciding which offers best hair loss products.
  7. don’t stress yourself too much. our part is to do our role as parents: take care and nurture our kids and usher them to a good and Godly ways. the rest is up to God. when we’re stress-free, our parenting role become easier… plus the added bonus of great skin and great hair!

basic skin care

I really struggled last time when my skin had a lot of breakouts. Such painful years for me… you know, being insecure and all for having those big zits! Not only that, they were in certain places and they burst out like there’s no other place on my face to breakout.

Those acnes left my skin scarred. It looked awful. Before I know all about skin care and all that, the skin of face became rough-looking with all those scars around. But after 6 years of conscious effort to fight acne and conscious effort of taking care of my skin, there is some kind of improvement. Thank God for clinique. Clinique is water-based so it’s best for my skin type… and best for the environment I am at. If you are in a cold climate, it’s not advisable to use water-based cosmetics. My skin now is a lot smoother compared to the last time. The scars are still a bit visible but when I apply foundation under my makeup, it’s not really that visible. I know only surgeries can eliminate acne scars… but I don’t think I can afford to do that as of now. For now, it’s the basic skin care that I am doing:

Pregnant and Beautiful

I was one of those preggies that really cared how I looked even though I was pregnant. I remember well when I was pregnant with my first that I made sure I wanna look good inspite of my bulging tummy. Of course I was very careful with the products I was using, especially those that I applied on my skin. I remember having countless times in checking whether this product and that product was safe for me and the baby inside of me. It’s quite tough because some products didn’t have the test for preggy women.
Lucky for those who are pregnant now. There’s this product called Beaute de Maman that is safe for both the pregnant mother and the fetus. They no longer spend hours and hours to do research whether the product they are using is safe or not. This product is actually discovered by celebrities themselves… so you can be sure that is really really good. If you wanna find out more about it, just visit their website. You may order now too if you’re pregnant and looking for safe beauty products. It is essential that we take care of our skin and be safe while pregnant.
