I buy and read Women’s Weekly magazine from time to time. It’s great to know some updates when it comes to fashion and latest trends. One thing I like most about it is that it offers a lot of helpful articles. The latest one I bought had articles on safety tips on streets and at home. Here’s Daphne Iking’s take on staying safe:
- Don’t stinge on safety. Afraid of lonely carparks? Consider valet services at hotels and malls.
- Carry a safety device. A super loud alarm and even an umbrella or walking stick can be used for self-protection.
- Be alert at all times. Never walk around talking or texting on your mobile phone. You make yourself an easy target for snatch-thiefs because you’re too engrossed to respond fast enough when they act.
- Trust your instincts. You don’t want to get into the lift alone with that man… trust your instincts. When your gut feeling tells you something is not right, run!
- Prevent Crime from Happening. Even if you know martial arts, you may not be alert enough to use your skills on the spur of the moment. So it’s better to take precautions to avoid danger, rather than assume you can handle the situation when it happens.
